CIBC Run for the Cure



CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada’s largest single-day, volunteer-led event in support of the breast cancer cause and partnership between the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The marathon is also a 5k or 1k walk or run. Participating runners in the CIBC Run for the Cure has access to Fundraising tools such as an app, where you can create a personal avatar, send fundraising details on social media, personalize your page, track your progress, and earn rewards at each stage. Rewards for each stage include a t-shirt, a cure celebration kit presented by the Canadian Cancer Society, and a chance to wind a 2-way trip sponsored by WestJet. Individual awards for the day of the marathon, and team awards like corporate spirit award, school team challenge award, family and friends team challenge award, women’s team challenge award, post-secondary team challenge award, and the post-secondary top institution award. CIBC Run for the Cure national sponsors include Canpar Express, ATPH, WestJet, and Yes Tv.

Toronto Marathon - Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon


Scotiabank Toronto Marathon by the Waterfront offers a marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k, 1k kids, and Marathon Relay options to participating runners. The marathon's notable charities include Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, Sick Kids Foundation, Royal Ontario Museum, Heart and Stroke Foundation, and Doctors without Borders. The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon occurs in October with registration beginning at $40 and comes with a race kit. The race kit includes items such as a finisher medal, New Balance souvenir shirt, running belt, digital bib and certificate, custom Toronto landmark stickers, Larabar, Nuun Tablet Sampler, Biotrue eye drops, and other partner items.

Holly Jolly Fun Run



The Holly Jolly Fun Run operates under the annual The Original Santa Claus Parade in Toronto. The marathon happens every November in downtown Toronto as is a festive holiday run that happens about 45 minutes before the actual start of the Santa Claus Parade. Early bird tickets for the run start at $35 a person, is for all ages, and participants can choose between 5k to 10k. Christmas runners and enthusiasts can run the parade route, dressed in any Christmas theme while being cheered on by hundreds and thousands of local Torontonians. The Holly Jolly Fun Run finishes at Maple Lead Square, where running participants can enjoy hot chocolate, and meet up with friends and family to watch the parade.


If you plan to stay with Avalon Suites Yorkville to attend the Holly Jolly Fun Run and watch the Original Santa Claus Parade in Toronto, the Holly Jolly Fun Run Start Line is just west of Bathurst St. on Bloor St. between Manning Ave. and Euclid Ave. Then, head down the route ending at Maple Leaf Square. Commuting to the start of the race will be 10-minutes by train, 9-minutes to bike or 25 minutes to walk.
